Nauscopio
Documentary reports on audio and on history and economics. Each claim separated by its evidence level: what is observed, what is confirmed, what is calculated and what remains interpretation.
This is the entry point to all the work published at nauscopio.blogspot.com. Two blocks with a common philosophy: look at the piece, declare the source, tag each data point (OBSERVED, CONFIRMED, CALCULATED, PROBABLE, DEBATE, MEASURED, ND) and never let a hypothesis become a conclusion.
Nauscopio is not a thematic blog; it is two investigations with the same documentary rigor. If you come for audio, you'll find reverse engineering of tube amps and speakers; if you come for history, you'll find economic reconstruction from primary sources. Both share a method: an evidence tag on every claim.
Audio technical reports
Tube push-pull and single-ended, 3-way crossovers, 2-way monitors, audiophile mistakes and interactive tools. Each report separates what is seen in the photos, what is deduced from the schematic and what is still pending measurement.
History and Economics
Historical and economic processes reconstructed from documents. First piece: the Nazi "miracle" — MEFO financing, Four-Year Plan, autarky, price controls and imperial exploitation, with the Overy / Tooze / Ritschl / Aly debate.

Acronos P52 — 40 W ultralinear push-pull
Reconstruction from photos, catalogues and analysis of the 6550 architecture. Guide for non-electronics people + measurement protocol.
Acronos RS-1 — 25 W single-ended KT150
Pure Class A EC86→ECC803S→KT150. Verification of 25 W max and 18 W @ 0.01% THD.
Cayin Jazz 80 — KT88/EL34 ultralinear push-pull
Cayin Jazz 90 — Class AB1 UL/TR push-pull
Double report: Jazz 80 with KT88/EL34 in ultralinear, and Jazz 90 class AB1 UL/TR. Power-supply and bias comparison.
Fezz Audio Titania MK2 — 60 W KT88 push-pull
Jadis Aria — 30 W Class AB push-pull
Titania MK2 60 W KT88 and Aria 30 W Class AB. Two European push-pull schools.
Tube comparisons
Analog vacuum tube amplification for a three-way loudspeaker: suitability and confidence index
Suitability index for MR-A-01: 35/25/20/10/10 matrix with C7 load interaction 35% as the main criterion, C1 admissibility, independent A-D confidence, 6+1 programme and SPL and Zout calculators with representative RLC protocol.
Acronos P52 vs Cayin Jazz 80
Acronos P52 vs Cayin Jazz 90
Head to head: architecture, power supply, Zout and real-world behaviour on load.
xDuoo A35 — Thirteen PP + 1 SE amplifiers compared
Meta-report: fourteen amplifiers compared under the same yardstick.
Speakers and crossovers
35-year-old 3-way speaker — Crossover A v2.4
Full filter redesign after 35 years: measurement, simulation and listening.
Klang+Ton Grand Diamond — 2-way monitor
Klang+Ton 2-way monitor: analysis of the Dayton + Epique project.
Klang+Ton Grand Diamond (Mod) — Tube study SB20PFCR30-8 + D2608/913000
SB20PFCR30-8 + D2608/913000 in 25 L for 8 Ω tube tap. Verdict: no gain in F3 (+10 Hz), but yes for impedance.
Articles and tools
The five great audiophile mistakes: measurements, speakers and room
Measurements, speakers and room: what is confused, what is over-dimensioned and what is omitted.
Acoustic calculators — modes, SBIR, explorer, sensitivity, power and converter
6 utilities: modes, SBIR, modal explorer, sensitivity, power/SPL, time-distance for REW.
History and Economics — 1 report published
Full index at History and Economics index. First documentary block, with more work in preparation.
The Nazi "miracle": recovery, mobilisation and exploitation
Documentary reconstruction of the Third Reich economy 1933-1939: an efficiency miracle or an authoritarian mobilisation that subordinated consumption, labour and property to rearmament? Extrabudgetary financing through MEFO bills, Four-Year Plan, autarky, Preisstopp, price controls and imperial exploitation. Explicit historiographic debate (Overy, Tooze, Ritschl, Aly, Bel) and every claim tagged by evidence.
Upcoming reports — History and Economics
In preparation: new work on economic history with the same evidence-tagging method. The home page will update automatically as each report is published in the index.
How to read these reports — common method
Audio and History share the same demand: separate observation, documentation, calculation and interpretation. That is why each claim carries a tag. It is not decoration, it is a documentary commitment.
| Tag | Meaning | Audio example | History example |
|---|---|---|---|
| OBSERVED | Visible in photo or document | Silkscreen on a capacitor | Registered unemployment 1932-39 |
| CONFIRMED | Reliable external documentation | Tube datasheet | MEFO founded with 1 M RM |
| CALCULATED | Formula over known data | Power needed for 95 dB at 3 m | % of GDP on military spending |
| PROBABLE | Reasonable inference | Function of a relay by its position | Fall in per-capita consumption |
| DEBATE | Dispute among specialists | — | Götz Aly's thesis |
| HYPOTHESIS | Possibility not yet supported | Power-supply schematic | — |
| MEASURED | Own instrumentation | Response with calibrated mic | — |
| ND | Not demonstrable with current evidence | Actual B+ voltage | Exact 1939 salary series |
